October 14, Updated Covid Restriction for the North

Updated Covid Restriction for the North

In light of the new restrictions for the North put in place by the Public Health Officer yesterday, October 14th, we have implemented the following restrictions that we want to inform all our patrons about, as well as some reminders of protocols we have in place.

1) Proof of full vaccination now required for everyone 12 years+ for ALL areas of the facility, including the pool.
Effective tomorrow, October 16th, everyone 12 years and older must provide proof of full vaccination (both doses) to use any area of the facility, including the pools. This will be in effect up to and including November 19th. This includes any spectators. With your permission, we are able to store this information for you if you have a profile in our system, Active Net. We will scan your BC Vax Card and get you to sign a waiver to store this information. This will streamline the check-in process for future visits. If you do not have an account, please create one here.

The ONLY exception to this is youth over 12 years of age in programming.

For children 6 and under in programming, please note that they now require a parent or caregiver who is fully vaccinated (swimming lessons and climbing). Here are two options if not fully vaccinated:
    1) Find an alternative parent or caregiver (16 years+) that is fully vaccinated to support your child.
    2) Withdraw your child from the lesson and we will issue a pro-rated refund.

How do I get my BC Vaccine Card?

Information and how to access your BC Vaccine card is here:  https://www2.gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard.html

Proof of vaccination is best on your mobile device by showing the QR code or you can:

  • Save and print your BC Vaccine card from gov.bc.ca/vaccine card
  • Visit BC Access Centre (1020 Murray Street, Smithers) and have them print it for you
  • Order a paper copy by phone by calling 1-833-838-2323

2) Spectator capacity limited.
Spectating is only permitted for those that are accompanying a child 6 years and under to a swimming lesson or registered program. Due to the limited size of our viewing area, parents or caregivers of children 7 and older are not permitted at this time. Please drop your child off with their bathing suit under their clothing and mask on to enter by themselves.

3) Masks mandatory for everyone 5 years+.
Please don your mask before entering the facility. We ask visitors to please bring a mask from home.

4) One-way flow through facility.
All patrons should come dressed in the appropriate attire for their desired activity within the facility. All swimmers should arrive with their bathing suit on under their clothing and check-in at the front desk before moving onto the Viewing Area to store belongings in a bin. After swimming, you should don your mask, grab your bin and head up the ramp into the changeroom to get dressed. This flow will prevent congestion in the lobby and viewing area.

Patrons using the Fitness Room, Courts or Climbing Wall, there are bins in each of those areas for you to store your belongings during your activity.

Here is the official release for the restrictions within the majority of the Northern Health Authority until November 19th.

We understand that these changes might impact you or your family's membership use. If you would like to pause or receive a refund, please contact the front desk.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these new restrictions.
